The companies that make up Indicio Network Node Operators share more in common than just hosting a copy of Indicio’s public ledger. This community of global innovators share a common mission: furthering the adoption and increasing the business value of privacy-preserving ways of proving identity and authenticity to people, businesses, and even the Internet of Things.
It is for this reason that we are thrilled to see Sumiran Agarwal, Director of Indicio Network Ecosystem, appointed as Ambassador to India for the The Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC).
The Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC) is the leading global industry association for the blockchain technology ecosystem. Conceived during the Blockchain Summit on Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island, the GBBC is a Swiss-based non-profit launched in 2017 in Davos, Switzerland that is dedicated to furthering adoption of blockchain through engaging regulators, business leaders, and global changemakers on how to harness this ground-breaking technology to create more secure, equitable, and functional societies.
Sumiran’s role as Ambassador to India for GBBC will not only bring her depth of experience and expertise to the GBBC membership, but will also help to grow the understanding of the value of decentralized identity and verifiable credentials to a wider, global community.
Sumiran’s work at GBBC and Indicio has already led to the inclusion of Indicio and five of our Node Operators in GBBC’s Global Standards Mapping Initiative (GSMI) 2.0 summary report. GSMI 2.0 is GBBC’s most comprehensive effort to map and analyze the blockchain and digital asset landscape and was spearheaded by the GBBC in partnership with 131 institutions, organized into nine working groups and one of the groups was Digital Identity.
GSMI 2.0 includes an Interactive map of blockchain and digital asset regulation and guidance across 187 jurisdictions and also a report dedicated to the findings and guidance of the working groups with focuses in five key areas:
- Legislation and regulatory guidance
- Technical standards
- Industry standards and recommendations
- University courses and degree programs
- Industry consortia
Indicio was mentioned in several areas of the report.
First, in the main GSMI Report 2.0 (1) cite’s Indicio’s recommendation on the use of machine readable governance . Machine-readable governance embeds governance rules in the software for each party in a decentralized ecosystem. This allows governance rules to be cached, meaning the system can work offline, as well as providing the most effective and efficient way for managing complex information flows and conditional logic. Machine-readable governance was developed by Indicio in collaboration with SITA and an open-source version will bedonated to Linux Foundation Public Health (LFPH) for use by health authorities as part of the Cardea project.
Second, the report highlighted use cases from some of Indicio’s node operators:
- Snowbridge – Usecase is in real estate industry vertical and is based in Taiwan
- Snapper Future – Use case is in E-governance and education vertical and is based in India
- Indicio for Govt – Use case is in government industry vertical and is based in US
- Indicio for Healthcare – Use case is in healthcare industry vertical and is based in US
- Anonyome Labs – Use case is in hi-tech industry vertical and is based in US
- ID Ramp – Multiple use cases in cross industry and public sector identity services and is based in US
- Finclusive – Use case is in financial industry vertical and is based in US
This section is particularly valuable for those in the Digital Identity space as it summarizes the commercial benefits of the technology with real life use cases in this space along with recommendations for adoption. Listing these solutions also helps advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 16,1— “Identity for all by 2030.”
Indicio is a global network for a technology that brings value to everyone. We are extremely proud to have the expertise of Sumiran helping to support the diverse community of twenty-six companies on five continents as they operate our growing global network. Each organization is an innovator. All are committed to building a better way to manage digital identity and to create the trust in data needed for the machine, spatial, and Web3 age.
