Indicio Proven AI for Digital Travel provides a safe, secure, and streamlined way for travelers to interact with AI agents and AI agents to authenticate traveler identity.
- For the first time, travelers can cryptographically prove their identity to AI agents using digital passports (Digital Travel Credentials) held in digital wallets.
- This decentralized approach using Verifiable Credentials allows verified passenger data to flow seamlessly to AI agents, chatbots, and copilots, eliminating the friction and frustration of manual data entry, data error, and redundant information requests.
- AI agents access structured, verified traveler data in a permissioned way for regulatory compliance with data protection laws.

SEATTLE | February 3, 2026 — Indicio today announced a significant breakthrough in AI infrastructure for digital travel. Indicio Proven AI for Digital Travel allows travelers to instantly prove their identity to AI agents, chatbots, and copilots using Digital Travel Credentials (DTC) stored in a digital wallet. This is a major step forward for AI-powered travel experiences, enabling airlines, airports, travel platforms, and tourism providers to reliably authenticate travelers before their AI systems access customer data and provide services.
Indicio Proven AI for Digital Travel arrives as analysts forecast significant growth in AI agent deployment for customer experience as a result of developments that enable agents to understand context, easily interact with other agents, and reduce latency and cost.
It also comes as security experts describe a recent, high-profile AI agent tool — OpenClaw— as “an absolute nightmare” in security terms, and how that nightmare became real as an implementation, Moltbook, exposed “1.5 million API authentication tokens, 35,000 email addresses, and private messages between agents.”
Indicio Proven AI for Digital Travel eliminates the frustration of repeatedly entering personal and trip information across apps and chat systems to gain access to resources and services. It provides AI agents and chatbots with structured, verified information so they can perform their tasks more efficiently and effectively and deliver relevant responses to travelers rapidly.
And it also provides the kind of privacy protection and security needed for travelers to trust AI interactions with their personal data: all data sharing is by consent across secure traveler-to-agent channels.
“For the first time, an AI agent can use a digital passport to identify a traveler and automatically trust their data,” said Heather Dahl, CEO of Indicio. “This is transformational for the practical use and success of AI in travel. It allows travelers to consent to share their personal data, it seamlessly feeds AI agents and chatbots with the verified data needed for effective task performance, and it turns chat into a truly frictionless operational resource that’s also maximally compliant with data protection law.”
Secure authentication for AI agents, not vibe coding
Indicio’s Digital Travel Credentials combine authenticated biometrics and validated documents to create a “government-grade” digital identity. This means that the process of biometric and document validation follows International Civil Aviation Organization’s specifications for generating Digital Travel Credentials from a passport.
Once this data is validated, the traveler’s digital identity is sent to their digital wallet as a Verifiable Credential. With Indicio technology, this means the traveler now has a fully portable digital passport credential that can be cryptographically verified in person or online by AI agents for travel purposes. There is no need to check against a centralized database to prove the data is authentic.
With Indicio Proven AI for Digital Travel, the AI agent asks the traveler to present this credential at the start of a chat and the agent cryptographically verifies that the information in the credential is authentic and hasn’t been tampered with before proceeding to help with the traveler’s request.
Combine credentials to provide structured verified data
Indicio technology also enables the traveler to present multiple credentials at once, such as a digital passport credential and a loyalty program credential. This provides the agent with the assurance of identity verification and the contextually-relevant data they need to execute requests. In the case of air travel, it means that airline passengers no longer have to input multiple data from multiple apps or documents — name, flight details, Passenger Number Record, etc — to interact with a chatbot.
At the same time, the software managing these presentation requests are also cryptographically verifying that the chatbot belongs to their airline, creating trust in both directions. This means a traveler doesn’t have to worry that they’re being phished by a spoof AI agent.
Indicio’s DTC credentials can be used by travelers to interact with AI agents across their trip or vacation, from cruise lines, railway and coach networks, to car rentals. Travelers can get help finding the fastest route to a destination, finding a hotel, booking excursions, and changing reservations. At each point of interaction, each party can be instantly certain of the other’s identity.
The foundation for scale and trust in AI ecosystems
Compliance is simplified too. An agent or chatbot must ask permission to access personal data, a vital requirement for meeting data privacy regulations like GDPR. A traveler can also grant authorization to share their data with other AI agents and systems, enabling AI systems to scale into ecosystems and answer more complex requests from travelers in a data-privacy auditable way.
“Travel is the first step,” said Dahl. “The bigger picture is that Proven AI for Digital Travel shows how decentralized identity enables you to implement AI for customer interaction. By combining authenticated documents, biometrics, cryptography, and decentralized governance in Verifiable Credentials, human and non-human identity are able to interact with each other and scale in an effective, efficient, and above all, trustable way.”
