Helen Garneau joins the Hyperledger Foundation as Vice Chair of the Marketing Committee and Trevor Butterworth joins the Steering Committee of the Covid Credentials Initiative.

The Hyperledger Foundation, an open source collaborative effort created to advance cross-industry blockchain technologies hosted at the Linux Foundation, has welcomed Helen Garneau, Chief Marketing Officer of Indicio as Vice Chair of its Marketing Committee.
This is the second leadership role for Indicio in recent months at a Linux Foundation Project. In December, Vice President of Governance, Trevor Butterworth, was elected to the Steering Committee for the COVID Credentials Initiative (CCI), a part of Linux Foundation Public Health (LFPH), the leading organization for hosting and nurturing open-source technology for the benefit of public health initiatives.
Garneau has an extensive track record in implementing successful marketing strategies for a range of Hyperledger Foundation projects, including Hyperledger Indy, Hyperledger Aries, and Hyperledger Ursa. She also played a key role in project launches and the growth of Hyperledger communities.
As Vice Chair of the Marketing Committee, Garneau is committed to broadening Hyperledger’s membership base during her one-year term.
“It is an honor to be named vice-chair of the Hyperledger Foundation Marketing Committee alongside Chair, Duncan Johnston-Watt, CEO & Co-founder at Blockchain Technology Partners (BTP),” said Garneau. “One of the things I enjoy most in the Hyperledger community has been seeing the technology, use cases, and contributions from other members and companies. The dollars that companies put into their Hyperledger Foundation membership are valuable and I’ve seen the return in business growth first hand. The Hyperledger marketing team does an incredible job and I look forward to helping articulate that value proposition in my role as Vice-Chair.”
Butterworth was already involved in Linux Foundation Public Health as Chair of the Steering Group for the Cardea Project, an open-source ecosystem built on Hyperledger Indy and Hyperledger Aries for digital health credentials developed by Indicio and SITA and donated to LFPH.
“At Indicio, we are at the front end of building and implementing digital health credentials with commercial partners—and our success in this area, in open-sourcing the results, and in creating a community of developers to extend functionality is a win for both the Hyperledger Foundation and Linux Foundation Public Health,” said Butterworth. “Joining the Covid Credentials Initiative will help us learn from its experts, build better products, and drive adoption of technology that is sustainable and solves fundamental problems in privacy and security.”
Indicio is both a member and active contributor to the Hyperledger Foundation and Linux Foundation Public Health and has taken a significant leadership role in the open sourcing of a number of technologies. Among others, Indicio has helped lead the development and contributions to several projects at Linux Foundation including:
- Hyperledger Indy Node Monitor (August 2020): A set of tools for monitoring the status of Hyperledger Indy networks.
- Hyperledger Aries Mediator (Dec 2020): An essential cloud-based connection point to send and receive requests between mobile holders and issuers and verifiers
- Hyperledger Aries Bifold (Feb 2021): An open source digital wallet for the exchange of verifiable digital credentials
- LFPH, Cardea (May 2021): A complete open-source ecosystem for the exchange of privacy-preserving digital health credentials
